Art for Everyone

I know I already blogged today, 30 minutes ago or less at that. But I just wanted to clue everyone in on this amazing website 20x200. I'd read about it already, but in checking out the Hayden's Ferry Review blog I was reminded to actually go to their site. Each week 20x200 features 2 pieces of artwork. The small size of the artwork are priced at $20 a piece and come in limited editions of 200. The next size up is $200 for a print run of 20 and the size after that (according to the website this if often the original piece) is $2000. As someone who scours etsy for amazing yet affordable art I'm excited about this venture that will place original pieces of art in homes and allow artists a legitimate venue for their work. I just scored Todd R. Forsgren's White-eyed Vireo for just $20 ($28 with shipping). Not only do I love the piece, but Forsgren's artist statement talks about John James Audubon's use of birds to create his Birds of America Series. As some of you may know, my first published story at The Southeast Review is about Maria Martin Bachman who provided a lot of the background detail work for Audubon. Of course she was never credited. So this print is a little gift to myself to commemorate that publication.

In another literary connection James Rajott who had a strikingly heartbreaking photograph of a dogfight in the Grotesque issue of Hayden's Ferry has this photo for sale through 20x200. The only ones left are of the $2000 kind, but it's an amazing shot for those of you who have the cash.
